Faith meaning
Faith is a Christian and international girl's name of English origin (from Latin fides).
Belief, trust; the assent of the mind to what another declares
Faith is the English word for belief and trust, from Latin fides through Old French. Webster's dictionary of 1913 defines it as belief, the mind's assent to the truth of what another declares, and in theology as trust in God. It is one of the three virtues Paul names in 1 Corinthians 13, with hope and love, and English Puritans began using such virtue words as names. In India Faith is used by Christian families in the Northeast, where other English virtue names are also used, and in the South.
