Huma meaning
Huma (ہما) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin.
The huma, a fabled bird of good omen
Also used to mean: bird of paradise, phoenix
Huma (ہما) is Persian humā, the name of a fabulous bird. Steingass describes it as a bird of auspicious omen, said to fly without ever touching the ground, and records the old belief that a head its shadow falls upon will wear a crown. The humā appears in Persian and Sufi poetry, and in Mughal-era lore the plumes on royal turbans were said to be its feathers. Name lists today call Huma "bird of paradise" or "phoenix". Those are the meanings families use; the dictionary describes the humā itself rather than equating it with another bird. The same letters read hamā mean a shower of rain, but the name follows humā. The Indian actress Huma Qureshi is a well-known bearer.
