Mudita meaning
Mudita (मुदिता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Delighted, joyful, glad; (f.) joy, sympathetic joy
Mudita (मुदिता) is Sanskrit muditā, from the root mud, "to rejoice". As an adjective, mudita means delighted, joyful or glad, and as a feminine noun muditā means joy. In Buddhist teaching the word has a precise sense: Britannica lists muditā as the third of the four brahmavihāras, the "sublime states" of mental development, meaning joy in the happiness of others, practised alongside loving-kindness, compassion and equanimity. It is often translated as sympathetic joy. Name lists give Mudita as "happy" or "joyful", in line with the dictionary. The boys' name Mudit uses the masculine form of the same word.
