Nicole meaning
Nicole is a Christian girl's name of Greek origin (via French).
Victorious over the people
Also used to mean: victory of the people
Nicole is the French feminine of Nicolas, the name that gave English Nicholas. It goes back to Greek Nikolaos, which Strong's Concordance builds from nikos, 'victory', and laos, 'people', and translates 'victorious over the people'. A famous bearer of the root name is St Nicholas of Myra, the fourth-century bishop behind the Santa Claus story. Nicole itself took off in France in the Middle Ages and spread worldwide in the twentieth century. In India it is used mostly in Christian families; the Bengaluru-born model Nicole Faria became the first Indian to win Miss Earth, in 2010.
