We haven't confirmed a dictionary meaning for the name itself.
Sayan (সায়ন, said Shayon) is a Bengali boys' name, but its meaning is not settled. The Bengali word spelled the same way, sāẏana, is a term from astronomy for the equinox or declination, and Sanskrit sāyana has a similar technical sense. Name lists offer several other meanings, among them "evening", "binding" and "friend". Sanskrit does have sāya, "evening", and sayana, "binding", which was also the name of a son of the sage Viśvāmitra, but we could not confirm that either is the source of the name. We would rather say so than guess.
