Yvonne meaning
Yvonne is a Christian girl's name of French origin (from Germanic).
Yew tree (Germanic īw-, the root of Yves)
Also used to mean: archer
Yvonne is the French feminine of Yvon and Yves, which go back to the Germanic name Ivo. Its root is the word for the yew tree; Köbler's Old High German dictionary records it as īwa, 'yew', and notes that the later form īwe could also mean a bow made of yew wood. Because the best bows were made of yew, some explain Ivo as 'archer'. In India Yvonne is used in Catholic families.
