Ada meaning
Ada is an international and Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
Ornament; from a Hebrew root meaning to adorn
Also used to mean: noble
Ada is a short, old name with two roots. Etymonline traces the English name to Hebrew ʿĀdāh, which Strong's concordance glosses as "ornament", from a verb meaning to adorn; in Genesis it is the name of a wife of Lamech and of a wife of Esau. Ada is also used as a pet form of Germanic names that begin with adal-, "noble", such as Adelaide and Adeline, which is why name lists often give "noble". Its best-known bearer is Ada Lovelace, the nineteenth-century English mathematician often called the first computer programmer. Indian parents may like that adā (ادا) in Urdu and Hindi means grace, elegance and charm.
