Adeela (عدیلہ) is the feminine of Arabic ʿadīl, from the root ʿ-d-l. Lane's lexicon gives ʿadīl as the like or equal of something, one that matches it in weight or worth, a counterpart. The same root gives ʿadl, "justice", and ʿādil, "just", and name lists usually give Adeela as "just" or "fair" for that reason; strictly that sense belongs to the related name Adila. Adeela is the feminine of the boys' name Adeel, used in India and Pakistan.
