Adrika meaning
Adrika (अद्रिका) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Name of an apsaras, a celestial nymph
Also used to mean: celestial maiden, small mountain
Adrika (अद्रिका) is the name of an apsaras, one of the celestial dancers of Hindu tradition, as Monier-Williams records. The Mahābhārata tells how the apsaras Adrikā, cursed by a sage, lived as a fish in the Yamunā; she gave birth to twins, a boy who became King Matsya and a girl, Satyavatī, who later married King Shantanu. Many name lists link the word to adri, "mountain", and translate it as "small mountain", but the dictionary gives only the proper name. It is a gentle name with a clear epic source.
