Bosco meaning
Bosco is a Christian boy's name of Italian origin (from Medieval Latin).
A wood, grove or woodland (Medieval Latin boscus)
Also used to mean: woods, forest
Bosco is an Italian surname meaning 'wood' or 'forest', from Medieval Latin boscus, 'a wood, grove or woodland'. It became a first name through St John Bosco (1815–1888), the Turin priest known as Don Bosco who founded the Salesians to educate poor boys. The Salesians run Don Bosco schools, colleges and youth centres across India, and Indian Catholic families in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa and the Northeast name sons after him, either as John Bosco or simply Bosco.
