Ephraim meaning
Ephraim is a Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
Double fruit
Also used to mean: fruitful
Ephraim was the younger son of Joseph, born in Egypt. In Genesis 41:52 Joseph explains the name: 'God has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction'. Strong's Concordance reads the Hebrew Ephrayim as a dual form meaning 'double fruit', and name lists simply say 'fruitful'. Ephraim's descendants became one of the largest tribes of Israel. The Syriac form Ephrem belongs to St Ephrem the Syrian, the fourth-century poet-theologian loved in Kerala's Syriac churches, and both forms are used by Indian Christian families.
