Paulose meaning
Paulose is a Christian boy's name of Malayalam origin (from Syriac and Latin).
Little, small (Latin Paulus, Paul)
Also used to mean: humble
Paulose is the form of Paul used by Kerala's Saint Thomas (Syrian) Christians, who took their biblical names from the Syriac liturgy. Paul comes from Latin Paulus, a Roman family name that Strong's Concordance glosses 'little'; the apostle Paul, once Saul of Tarsus, carried it on his missionary journeys across the Roman world. Because 'little' fits Christian ideals of humility, name lists often give Paulose as 'humble'. The name is also held by bishops of the Malankara churches, among them two Catholicoi called Baselios Paulose. Paily and Pailo are homely Kerala forms of the same name.
