Chudamani meaning
Chudamani (चूडामणि) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Crest-jewel worn on the head; the best of its kind
Chudamani (चूडामणि) is the Sanskrit cūḍāmaṇi, from cūḍā, the crest or top of the head, and maṇi, "jewel". Monier-Williams gives it as a jewel worn on the top of the head, citing the Mahābhārata and the Rāmāyaṇa, and notes that at the end of a compound it means the best or most eminent of a group. The dictionary also records it as the name of a Kṣatriya in the Hitopadeśa. The best-known cūḍāmaṇi is Sītā's: in the Sundara Kāṇḍa of the Rāmāyaṇa, held captive in Laṅkā, she gives Hanumān the jewel from her hair as a token that Rāma will recognise. Name lists give Chudamani as "crest jewel", matching the dictionary. As a given name it is used mostly for boys.
