Dushyant meaning
Dushyant (दुष्यंत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Name of a Puru king, husband of Shakuntala
Also used to mean: destroyer of evil
Dushyant (दुष्यंत) is the name of Duṣyanta, a king of the lunar dynasty descended from Puru. Monier-Williams records him as the husband of Śakuntalā and father of Bharata in the Mahābhārata, the Purāṇas and Kālidāsa's play Śakuntalā, where a sage's curse makes the king forget his bride until he sees the ring he gave her. The dictionary gives an older form, duḥṣanta, and offers two possible derivations, both marked with a question mark, so the word has no settled meaning. Baby-name lists usually translate it as "destroyer of evil". We could not find that sense in the dictionaries, so it is best taken as a modern reading; the name's real weight comes from the king of the epic and the play.
