Darpan meaning
Darpan (दर्पण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
A mirror
Darpan (दर्पण) is the ordinary Sanskrit and Hindi word for a mirror. Monier-Williams gives darpaṇa as a mirror, explaining it literally as "causing vanity", and notes that it was often used in the titles of books, in the sense of a work that reflects its subject clearly, as in the Sāhitya-darpaṇa on poetics. It also records Darpaṇa as a name of Śiva and of a mountain said to be the seat of Kubera. Indian name lists give the meaning simply as "mirror". As a boy's name it suggests clarity and honesty, a person who shows things as they are.
