Pratap meaning
Pratap (प्रताप) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Glowing heat; splendour, glory, majesty, dignity, power, energy
Pratap (प्रताप) is the Sanskrit pratāpa, from pra-tap, "to blaze, to give out heat". Monier-Williams gives it as glowing heat and warmth, and from there as splendour, brilliance, glory, majesty, dignity, power and energy, the radiance of a powerful ruler. The best-known bearer is Maharana Pratap of Mewar, who fought the Mughal army at Haldighati in 1576 and is remembered across Rajasthan and North India. The word is also a common element in names such as Pratap Singh and Bhanupratap. Name lists give "glory" or "majesty", the same as the dictionary.
