Freddie meaning
Freddie is an international boy's name of English origin (from Germanic).
Pet form of Frederick, "peaceful ruler", or of Alfred
Freddie is the friendly short form of Frederick, and sometimes of Alfred. Frederick comes through French Frédéric and German Friedrich from a Germanic name that the Online Etymology Dictionary explains as "peace-rule": frithu, "peace", the same word as Old English friðu, and rik, "ruler". So name lists give "peaceful ruler". The most famous Freddie has an Indian link: the Queen singer Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara to a Parsi family in Zanzibar and went to boarding school in Panchgani, Maharashtra, where he played in his first band. The name is bright and easy to say.
