Kapil meaning
Kapil (कपिल) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Tawny, reddish brown; the sage Kapila
Kapil (कपिल) is the Sanskrit kapila, a colour word that Monier-Williams glosses as "monkey-coloured": brown, tawny or reddish. It can also mean red-haired, and as a noun the colour itself, a brown dog or a kind of ape. Its most important bearer is the ancient sage Kapila, sometimes identified with Viṣṇu and regarded as the founder of the Sāṃkhya system of philosophy, who is named in the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita. MW also lists Kapila as a form of fire and a name of the sun. Name lists give Kapil as the sage's name or as "tawny"; the cricketer Kapil Dev, who captained India to the 1983 World Cup, is its best-known modern bearer.
