Naomi meaning
Naomi is an international and Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
Pleasant; from Hebrew noam, "pleasantness"
Naomi comes from Hebrew No'omi, which Strong's Concordance glosses as "pleasant", from no'am, "pleasantness" or "favour". In the Book of Ruth, Naomi loses her husband and sons in Moab and returns to Bethlehem with her loyal daughter-in-law Ruth; in her grief she asks to be called Mara, "bitter", instead of Naomi, a play on the name's meaning. Ruth's son Obed, whom Naomi nurses, becomes the grandfather of King David. The name is used by Christian and Jewish families worldwide. It is said nay-OH-mee in English and NOH-mee in Hebrew, and it is easy for Indian speakers.
