Sadie meaning
Sadie is an international girl's name of Hebrew origin (English pet form).
Pet form of Sarah, "princess"
Sadie is an English pet form of Sarah, made by the same sort of sound change that gave Sally. The Online Etymology Dictionary gives Sarah as Hebrew for "princess", the feminine of sar, "prince", from a verb meaning "to rule". Sarah is the wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac in Genesis, and is remembered in Isaiah as an ancestress of Israel. Sadie has long been used on its own, and has a friendly, old-fashioned feel. It is said SAY-dee. For Indian families its meaning is close to Rajkumari, and it sits well with most surnames.
