Pugazh meaning
Pugazh (புகழ்) is a Tamil boy's name.
Fame, renown, glory; also praise and a famous deed
Pugazh (புகழ்) is the Tamil word pukaḻ, fame. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras gives it as praise or a eulogy; fame, renown, glory and celebrity; and a famous deed. The word carries weight in Tamil ethics: the Tirukkuṟaḷ gives a whole chapter, Pukaḻ, to lasting renown, which it ties to generous giving. The letter ழ gives the name its distinctive sound, written zh in English. Name lists give "fame" or "glory", in line with the dictionary. Pugazh is used on its own and at the start of longer names such as Pugazhendhi, the name of the medieval poet of the Naḷaveṇpā.
