Ruma meaning
Ruma (रुमा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Wife of Sugriva in the Ramayana; also a river and a salt lake
Ruma (रुमा) is a Sanskrit name best known from the Ramayana, where Rumā is the wife of Sugrīva, king of the monkeys of Kishkindha. Her seizure by Sugrīva's brother Vālin is the wrong that Rāma rights when he helps Sugrīva regain his throne. Monier-Williams also records rumā as a river, a place, and the salt mine or salt lake in the Sambhar district of Ajmer. The dictionary gives no separate word meaning for it beyond these names. The Bengali singer Ruma Guha Thakurta is a well-known bearer.
