Aarna meaning
Aarna (आर्णा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A wave, flood, stream; (feminine arṇā) a river
Aarna (आर्णा) is usually traced to Sanskrit arṇa, a word for "a wave, flood or stream" that Monier-Williams cites from the Rigveda onwards. The same dictionary lists a separate feminine word, arṇā, meaning "a river", and also uses arṇa for a letter or syllable and for the name of a poetic metre. Indian name lists give Aarna as "wave" or "river", which matches these dictionary senses. A few lists also call it a name of the goddess Lakshmi; we could not find that in the Sanskrit dictionaries. The Sanskrit word begins with a short a, so the double a in the English spelling is simply the usual modern way of writing the name.
