Yug meaning
Yug (युग) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
An age of the world, era; a generation; a yoke, pair
Yug (युग) is the Sanskrit yuga. Its first meaning in Monier-Williams is a yoke or team, the thing that joins two animals, and from that a pair or couple; it comes from the same family as yuj, "to join". In the Rig Veda it also means a generation of people, and later an age of the world. Hindu cosmology counts four such ages, Kṛta or Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali, which together make a great age of 4,320,000 years. Name lists give Yug as "era" or "age", which matches the dictionary. Yuga is the fuller form.
