Aadi meaning
Aadi (आदि) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Beginning, commencement; first-fruits
Aadi (आदि) is the Sanskrit ādi, a masculine noun meaning "beginning, commencement". Monier-Williams also gives "first-fruits", and notes that at the end of a compound the word means "beginning with", rather like "and so on" in English. Used at the front of a word, it marks something as the first or original one. The Sikh scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib, is also called the Adi Granth, the "First Book", which sets it apart from the later Dasam Granth, the "Tenth Book". Indian name lists today give Aadi as "beginning" or "first", which matches the dictionary. The name is short, sounds the same across Indian languages and is easy to spell in English.
