Abhinav meaning
Abhinav (अभिनव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Quite new, young, fresh; modern
Abhinav (अभिनव) is the Sanskrit abhinava, built from the prefix abhi- and nava, "new". Monier-Williams glosses it as "quite new or young, very young, fresh" and also "modern", and records Abhinava as the name of two men in the Rājataraṅgiṇī, the chronicle of the kings of Kashmir. Indian name lists give the same sense, "new" or "fresh". The word also opens the name of Abhinavagupta, the Kashmiri philosopher of the early eleventh century whose theory of rasa shaped Indian thinking about poetry and theatre. A well-known bearer is Abhinav Bindra, the shooter who won the men's 10m air rifle at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, India's first individual Olympic gold medal.
