Alok meaning
Alok (आलोक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Light, brightness; sight, vision
Alok (आलोक) is the Sanskrit āloka, a noun from ā-lok, "to look at". Monier-Williams gives its senses in two groups. The first is about seeing: looking, beholding, sight and vision, as used in the Meghadūta and Śakuntalā. The second is about what makes seeing possible: light, brightness, splendour and a glimmer. The dictionary adds a less familiar sense, praise or a complimentary speech, and notes that the word can also mean a section of a book. Indian name lists give Alok simply as "light", which matches the dictionary, and it belongs with other light names such as Prakash and Pradeep.
