Angelo meaning
Angelo is a Christian boy's name of Greek origin (via Latin and Italian).
Messenger; angel
Also used to mean: messenger of God
Angelo is the Italian and Portuguese form of the Latin angelus, from Greek angelos. Strong's Concordance defines angelos as a messenger, especially an angel, from a verb meaning 'to bring news', and the New Testament uses it for Gabriel and the other angels. The name has long been used by Catholic families in Goa, Mangalore and Mumbai, who took many names from Portuguese and Italian forms. A notable Indian bearer was Angelo Fernandes, Archbishop of Delhi from 1967 to 1990.
