Ayaan meaning
Ayaan (ایان) is a Muslim and international boy's name.
Meaning today
God's gift
In the dictionaries
The name isn't in the classical dictionaries we use, so it is most likely a modern name. The meaning above is how families commonly use it.
Ayaan (ایان) is a boys' name used across Indian families. On name lists it is usually given as "God's gift", and that is the meaning families use today. We could not find that sense, or the name itself, in the classical Arabic and Persian dictionaries we use, so its origin is uncertain. The same letters spell the Arabic question word ayyāna, "when?", which Lane and Steingass record and which the Quran uses in 7:187, but no source links the name to that word. Darul Uloom Deoband, asked about the name, also found no dictionary basis for "God's gift" and saw no objection to it. Ayan and Aayan are common spellings of the same name.
