Caspian meaning
Caspian is an international boy's name of Latin and Greek origin (place name).
Of the Caspian Sea, named after the Caspii people
Also used to mean: from the Caspian Sea
Caspian is the name of the great inland sea between Europe and Asia, bordered today by Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Azerbaijan. The Online Etymology Dictionary traces the English word, used since the 1580s, to Latin Caspius and Greek Kaspios, after the Caspii, a people who lived on its shores; their own name may have meant "white", though that is uncertain. As a first name it owes much to Prince Caspian, the young king in C. S. Lewis's Narnia novel of 1951. It has a sense of travel and wide horizons, and it is said KAS-pee-un.
