Simon meaning
Simon is a Christian and international boy's name of Hebrew origin (via Greek).
Hearing (Hebrew Shimon, from shama', 'to hear')
Also used to mean: he has heard, listener
Simon is the New Testament Greek form of Hebrew Shimon, which Strong's Concordance derives from shama', 'to hear', and glosses 'hearing'. In Genesis, Leah named her son Simeon because God had heard her, so name lists give the name as 'he has heard' or 'listener'. Strong's counts nine men called Simon in the New Testament, among them Simon Peter, the leader of the apostles, Simon the Zealot, and Simon of Cyrene, who carried Jesus' cross. In India Simon is used in Christian families of every tradition.
