Clement meaning
Clement is a Christian boy's name of Latin origin (via Greek).
Merciful; Latin clemens
Also used to mean: gentle
Clement comes from Latin clemens, 'merciful, mild', and Strong's Concordance gives exactly that sense for Klemes, the Greek spelling found in Philippians 4:3, where Paul names Clement among his fellow workers. Tradition links him with St Clement of Rome, an early bishop of Rome whose letter to the Corinthians is one of the oldest Christian writings outside the New Testament. Fourteen popes later took the name. In India Clement is used by Catholic families in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Mangalore.
