Dinanath meaning
Dinanath (दीनानाथ) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, दी, it is a Meen rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lord and protector of the afflicted
Also used to mean: lord of the helpless, protector of the poor
Dinanath (दीनानाथ) joins dīna, "afflicted, miserable", with nātha, which Monier-Williams gives as a protector, patron or lord. It means "lord and protector of the helpless", a devotional title of God, and Indian name lists give "lord of the helpless" or "protector of the poor". Monier-Williams records dīna-nātha as an author's name. A similar-sounding compound with a short i, dina-nātha, "lord of the day", is a name for the sun, which is why a few lists give that meaning instead. The best-known bearer is Deenanath Mangeshkar, the Marathi singer and stage actor and father of Lata Mangeshkar.
