Everly meaning
Everly is an international girl's name of Old English origin (surname from a place name).
From Everleigh or Everley: 'wild boar clearing or wood'
Also used to mean: from the boar's meadow, forever
Everly began as an English surname taken from the places Everleigh in Wiltshire and Everley in North Yorkshire. The English Place-Name Society explains Everleigh as "wild boar clearing or wood", from Old English eofor, which Bosworth-Toller's dictionary gives as a wild boar, and lēah, a lea or woodland clearing, the same ending found in Hadley and Hailey. Some hear the English word ever in it and the sense of "forever", but that is a modern association, not the origin. The surname was borne by the Everly Brothers, the American singing duo of the 1950s and 1960s.
