Felix meaning

Felix is a Christian and international boy's name of Latin origin.

Happy, lucky; in its oldest sense fruitful (Latin felix)

Felix is the Latin adjective fēlix. Lewis and Short's Latin dictionary gives its oldest sense as fruitful or fertile, used of trees and land, then auspicious or bringing good luck, and above all lucky, happy and successful, its commonest use. The Romans also used Felix as a surname, first given to the dictator Sulla. In the New Testament it is the name of the Roman governor of Judaea before whom the apostle Paul was tried (Acts 23–24); Strong's Concordance lists it as a Latin name meaning "happy". Several early saints and popes also bore the name. Name lists give "happy" or "lucky", matching the Latin.
