Prince meaning
Prince is a Christian boy's name of English origin (from Latin).
A sovereign or ruler; the son of a king
Also used to mean: prince
Prince is an English word used as a first name. Webster's 1913 dictionary traces it to Latin princeps, 'the first, the chief', formed from primus, 'first', and capere, 'to take', and defines a prince as a ruler of the highest rank or the son of a king. For Christian parents the word has a further echo in Isaiah's title for the promised child, 'Prince of Peace', which the Church applies to Jesus. In India Prince is used as a given name mainly in Christian families.
