George meaning
George is a Christian and international boy's name of Greek origin.
Farmer, land-worker; from Greek geōrgos
George comes from the Greek Geōrgios, built on geōrgos, a farmer. Strong's Concordance, which lists geōrgos as a New Testament word, explains it from gē, "earth", and ergon, "work": a land-worker or husbandman. It is the word used for the tenants of the vineyard in Jesus' parable (Matthew 21:33). The name itself is not biblical. It became one of the great Christian names through Saint George, a soldier martyr remembered in the legend of the dragon and honoured as patron saint of England and of Georgia. In India the name is used by Christians, and Fort St George in Chennai, completed by the East India Company on St George's Day in 1644, takes its name from him. Name lists give "farmer", as in the Greek.
