Gul meaning
Gul (گل) is a Muslim girl's name of Persian origin (Urdu usage).
A rose; a flower
Gul (گل) is the Persian word for a rose, and more generally for any flower. Steingass' dictionary lists further senses, among them a red colour and the glowing snuff of a lamp or candle. The word is everyday Urdu and Hindi, as in gulshan, a flower garden, and gulistān, a rose garden. Gul is used on its own as a girl's name and also begins many longer names, such as Gulnar, Gulrukh and Gulafshan. In Pashto and Turkish usage it also appears in men's names.
