Jerusha meaning
Jerusha is a Christian girl's name of Hebrew origin.
Possessed; feminine passive participle of yarash, 'to possess'
Also used to mean: inheritance, possession
Jerusha is the Hebrew Yerusha, which Strong's Concordance (H3388) explains as the feminine passive form of yarash, "to possess", so "possessed" or "taken possession of"; some scholars think it meant "married". Name lists give it as "inheritance" or "possession", which come from the same verb. In the Bible Jerusha, daughter of Zadok, was the wife of King Uzziah and the mother of King Jotham of Judah (2 Kings 15:33, 2 Chronicles 27:1). It is used as a biblical name in Christian families in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
