Kabir meaning
Kabir (کبیر) is a Muslim and Hindu boy's name of Arabic origin.
Great in body, rank or dignity; the opposite of small
Kabir (کبیر) is the Arabic kabīr, from the root k-b-r, "to be great". Lane glosses it as great in body, rank or dignity, the opposite of small. As al-Kabīr, "the Most Great", it is one of the names of God, used in the Quran at 13:9, and Lane notes that it means the same as al-ʿAẓīm. The same root gives akbar, "greater, greatest", as in Allāhu akbar. Name lists today give Kabir simply as "great". In India the name is used by Hindu, Sikh and Muslim families alike because of Kabir (1440–1518), the poet-saint of Banaras who was raised by a Muslim weaver and some of whose verses are in the Sikh scripture, the Adi Granth.
