Kartavya meaning
Kartavya (कर्तव्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
What ought to be done; duty, obligation
Also used to mean: responsibility
Kartavya (कर्तव्य) is Sanskrit kartavya, a form of the verb kṛ, "to do, to make". Monier-Williams gives it as what is to be done, made or accomplished, what ought to be done, and as a noun, duty or obligation. The word appears in the Bhagavad Gītā, where Krishna says that nothing remains for him to do in the three worlds, yet he keeps on acting. In Hindi kartavya is still the usual word for duty. Name lists give "duty" or "responsibility", which match the dictionary.
