Kartar meaning
Kartar (ਕਰਤਾਰ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin, also used for girls.
The Creator; the Maker of the world
Also used to mean: creative like God
Kartar (ਕਰਤਾਰ) is one of the names of God in Sikh scripture. It comes from Sanskrit kartṛ, a maker, and the Mahan Kosh, under ਕਰਤਾ, gives it as one who makes or creates and as Waheguru, the Supreme Being who creates the world. The Guru Granth Sahib uses ਕਰਤਾਰ for God again and again, for example on Ang 15, and Guru Nanak named the town he founded on the Ravi Kartarpur. As a given name it is traditional, carried by men as Kartar Singh and women as Kartar Kaur; the Ghadar revolutionary Kartar Singh Sarabha is a famous bearer.
