Harnam meaning
Harnam (ਹਰਨਾਮ) is a Sikh boy's name of Punjabi origin.
Nām, the divine Name, of Hari, God
Harnam (ਹਰਨਾਮ) joins har(i), God, with nām, name. In Sikh teaching Naam is far more than a label: the Mahan Kosh notes that in Gurbani the word also stands for the Creator and His command, and lists remembrance and renown among its senses. The phrase ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ, the Name of God, runs through hundreds of lines of the Guru Granth Sahib, from Ang 10 onwards, and meditation on it, naam simran, is central to Sikh devotion. As a name, Harnam therefore means the Name of God. It is a traditional boys' name, often written Harnaam.
