Kayalvizhi meaning
Kayalvizhi (கயல்விழி) is a Tamil girl's name.
Kayal (carp) joined with viḻi (eye): eyes shaped like kayal fish
Kayalvizhi (கயல்விழி) is a classic Tamil compliment turned into a name. Kayal is the carp, a fish of tanks and ponds, and viḻi is the eye; the Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras gives both, and under kayal it quotes a line from the Sangam anthology Aiṅkuṟunūṟu in which kohl-lined eyes are taken for kayal fish. Long, fish-shaped eyes are a familiar image of beauty in Tamil poetry, and the same idea lies behind Mīṉāṭci (Meenakshi), the fish-eyed goddess of Madurai. Name lists give "one with fish-shaped eyes" or "beautiful eyes". The name is used for girls, and Kayal is also used on its own.
