Ketan meaning
Ketan (केतन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, के, it is a Mithun rashi name (Punarvasu nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A house or abode; a sign, flag or banner
Ketan (केतन) is Sanskrit ketana, a neuter noun with several related senses in Monier-Williams. It can mean a summons or invitation; a house or abode, and poetically the body as the abode of the soul in the Bhagavad Gītā; a place or site; and a sign, mark or symbol of a deity, or a warrior's ensign or banner. The dictionary illustrates that last sense with vānara-ketana, 'one whose banner bears a monkey'. Name lists usually give 'home' or 'banner', both faithful to the dictionary, though a few add 'gold' or 'bright', which we could not find for this word. Kethan is a South Indian spelling of the name.
