Khaleeq (خلیق) is the Arabic khalīq, from the root kh-l-q. Lane's lexicon gives khalīq, said of a man, as perfect in make and well proportioned, and the related khuluq as a person's nature or moral character. Platts's Urdu dictionary uses khalīq for someone of good temperament: gentle, friendly, courteous and refined. Several name lists give the meaning as "creator", but that sense belongs to the related words khāliq and khallāq, not to khalīq. Khaleeq was the pen name of the 18th-century Urdu poet Mir Mustahsan Khaleeq.
