Kudrat meaning
Kudrat (ਕੁਦਰਤ) is a Sikh girl's name of Arabic origin (Punjabi usage).
Power, might; the creative power of God; the creation, nature
Kudrat (ਕੁਦਰਤ) comes from the Arabic qudrat, power, and is one of the key words of the Guru Granth Sahib. The Mahan Kosh defines it as power and strength, and as the Creator's power of making, through which the whole creation came to be. In Guru Nanak's Japji (Ang 3) the poet asks how that creative power could ever be described, and in the Asa di Var (Ang 464) he lists the many forms of kudrat: what is seen, what is heard, the underworlds and the skies. In everyday Punjabi and Hindi, kudrat simply means nature. As a girl's name it is a recent choice in Sikh families.
