Miller meaning
Miller is an international unisex name of English origin (occupational surname), used for both girls and boys.
One who grinds grain in a mill
Also used to mean: miller
Miller began as an English surname for the person who ran the village mill and ground the grain into flour. The Online Etymology Dictionary records miller in this sense from the mid-1300s, and as a surname a little earlier; the Old English word had been mylnweard, "mill-keeper", which survives in the surname Millward. Like Baker and Carter, it is one of the old work names now used as first names, and in America it is given to both boys and girls. It has a plain, earthy sound. It is said MIL-er and is easy to pair with an Indian surname.
