Millie meaning
Millie is an international girl's name of English origin (from Old English and Germanic).
Pet form of Mildred, "gentle strength", or of Millicent
Millie is an English pet form, now also given on its own. It is best known as a short form of Mildred, which the Online Etymology Dictionary traces to an Old English name joining mild, "gentle", with a word for power or strength; St Mildred, an abbess in Kent who died around 700, made it popular in the Middle Ages, and Milly was its familiar form. Millie is also short for Millicent, from a Germanic name meaning "strong in work", and for Amelia or Camilla. Name lists give it as "gentle strength", following Mildred. It is said MIL-ee, and fits easily with Indian surnames.
