Minati meaning
Minati (ମିନତି) is a Hindu girl's name of Odia origin (from Sanskrit vinati).
A humble prayer; an earnest request, entreaty
Minati (ମିନତି) is an everyday Odia word rather than a Sanskrit name. Praharaj's Purnachandra Odia Bhashakosha defines it as a prayer made with humility, glossed in English as "entreaty", and traces it to Sanskrit vinati, which Monier-Williams gives as bowing, obeisance, humility and modesty. Bengali has the same word, which the Samsad dictionary explains as a humble prayer or an earnest request. As a name it carries that sense of gentle, respectful asking. It has long been used for girls in Odia and Bengali families, and a well-known bearer is Minati Mishra, one of the pioneering dancers of Odissi and a recipient of the Padma Shri.
